An early morning auto accident in Miami Beach today resulted in fatality for an airport shuttle van passenger from Columbia, according to the Miami Herald. Police reported that the accident between a police cruiser and the shuttle van occurred at the intersection of 71st St. and Abbott Ave before dawn today, closing that section of the roadways until 10:00 a.m. According to the Herald, a surveillance camera captured the police cruiser crashing into the van, which caused the van to veer off-course, but the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Following the collision, shuttle passenger Rodolfo Bautista-Olivares, 79, required transportation to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
