The driver of a recent hit-and-run auto accident in West Palm Beach has been identified and arrested, thanks to a surveillance camera at the car wash where the accident occurred, according to the CBS 12 website. The woman reportedly locked her keys in the car and stayed at the West Palm Beach Wash N’ Go car wash for about two hours while waiting on a locksmith. As she was leaving the car wash, the woman struck a teenager with her vehicle and continued driving. The teen, who was riding his bike at the time of the car accident, sustained minor injuries to his leg and required staples. After gathering information from the video tape and the locksmith, police arrested Matilda Nunez and charged her with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.
Although not all hit-and-run accidents take place in areas with surveillance cameras, there are other ways to identify the driver who fled the scene or, as an alternative, file a claim for compensation even if you cannot locate the suspect.
