Miramar Police identified the crash victims Wednesday that were injured during a collision with a Mercedes Benz on Tuesday night while driving a Suzuki motorcycle.
Luis Colon, 27 of Miramar was the driver of the motorcycle and seriously injured. He was taken by the Miramar Fire Rescue to an area hospital after the crash.
The crash happened on Red Road. Colon lost control of his motorcycle after hitting the passenger side of the black 2009 luxury car. Ariel Stafford, 29, of Opa Locka was the driver of the Mercedes Benz.
According to Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues, Colon’s motorcycle went into a ditch near Miramar Boulevard after hitting the other vehicle.
Nannette Melendez, 19, from Puerto Rico was Colon’s passenger. Melendez was airlifted from the scene of the accident for treatment of injuries.
Stafford, the driver of the Mercedes Benz was traveling north on Red Road and in the process of making a U-turn when the accident occurred. Police said Stafford remained at the scene of the crash and the incident is being under investigation.
