Nine people required transportation to hospitals for injuries after a collision between a van and a transit bus in Weston, FL, on Wednesday, June 24, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that the auto accident shut down a portion of Weston Rd. for over 3 hours as hazmat crews responded to leaks from the van’s cargo, which included containers of chlorine, propane, nitrogen, and other dangerous chemicals. According to the article, the bus had slowed down to pick up other passengers when a car that was driving behind it attempted to pass the bus at Weston Rd. and Blatt Blvd. around 1:15 p.m. A van that had been traveling behind the car then rear-ended the bus. The driver of the van, the transit bus driver, and seven passengers from the bus were taken to local hospitals for the treatment of injuries.
