How Long Will Social Security Provide Florida Disability Benefits for Tumors?

Tumors can persist, progress or recur regardless of treatment. Because of this, it is important to find out how long the Social Security Administration will determine your impairment disabling and provide you with Florida disability benefits.

Once your tumor has been diagnosed, Social Security will generally consider your impairment disabling until a specific point in time. For example, they may consider your tumor disabling for 18 months from the date of diagnosis. However, Social Security can also extend your disability benefits based on the medical evidence they receive.

After Social Security approves your South Florida disability benefits, they generally consider the impairment disabling for at least three years after onset of complete remission. This is because different treatments may have residual effects that are considered disabling for a period of at least 12 months. When your tumor has been in remission for at least three years, the tumor or medical impairment will no longer be qualified for disability benefits in Florida.

If your tumor has relapsed, you can submit for a disability claim in South Florida again. If Social Security does not approve your disability benefits, you have a right to appeal.

A skilled South Florida disability attorney can help you with filing your disability claim or your appeal, in order for you to get the disability benefits you are entitled to.  Call the Law Offices of David Benenfeld today at 954-677-0155 for a free, no-obligation consultation.
